Communion

Once again, follow our day with the words of our devotion .

What was the best and worst for you today?
This clinic serves the people of Dihatshwane.  It took us about 30 minutes to drive from the clinic to Dihatshwane.  The people of the village do not have vehicles.

"Going to the clinic was the best, I wanted to jump in and help...

the worst is they don't or can't take take their medication because they can't get to the clinic."

The graveyards are filled with a generation of parents because of the AIDS pandemic, leaving the grandparents to care for the children.  One of the problems that compounds this is the cost of funerals.  The family is also supposed to feed all who attend the funeral.

"The worst for me was the graveyard.  Realizing these people with no electricity, no running water will go without food trying to pay thousands of dollars to bury their family members."

Pastor Mpho is trying to  help them see they are not living under the law and there is no need to impress people with something you don't have.

The worst for me was watching eight children come out of one house of tin."

These children were making stilts out of cans and wire.  They loved the bracelets the Kassebaum's (Ella, Carter, Anna and Matt) and the  Poe's (Catheryn & Sebastian) grandchildren donated.   The children from Westwood Community Church made many bracelets also.  Thanks!!

"The best was VBS."

This is a working windmill.  The only source of water for the families.  The children are hauling water for the family.

"My best was watching Precious when we prayed for her grandmother"

Precious lives in the village.  Her sisters  (twins) are in VBS.  Precious took the week off from the day care she works at to help us.

The pillowcase dresses were a hit with all the girls! Thank you Cathy Haley and granddaughters for the dresses made with such love and care.

What does the suffering in our lives do?  One of the answers we discussed during our devotion time was that God is with us in the midst of our suffering.   Those best equipped to help others heal are wounded healers - those who have suffered themselves.
We are so very grateful for being taken out of our comfort zone so we are vulnerable enough to see the struggles of others at a deeper level.

We ended our devotion time with communion.  This was communion time with our Lord Jesus Christ and one another was essential to refill our spirits.  Another line from a song comes to mind..."what a friend we have in Jesus....

We will leave you with our own children .... the play Esther

Mamma Nelly doing her best work....playing with the children.

Momma Judy is always one of the kids!!

Lorri taught Papa Joe and Uncle "D" stories from the USA

Good Night from Africa!
