A Day of Delight

For our devotion time tonight we each chose one word that best described today...

Satisfying
This morning we began our day at the mission house.  The first item on the agenda was meeting the local Orchard Africa staff.  These are the people with feet on the ground who feed the children, visit and nurse the sick, pastor the community, oversee the teaching and learning centers.  We were even honored by a visit from the deputy chief of Top Village. It is such an blessing to actually meet the people who give so much of themselves in serving others.

Great
Second on the agenda was an example of the AIDS awareness and prevention program Orchard Africa gives to the children in the program.  Each pastor is also required to teach 1,000 children a year.  In our case we have Vanna-Sue and Cindy as our instructors.  The lesson was informative for all of us.

Surprising
Next we visited Top Village.  For those who had visited Top Village in our first mission trip, the change was impressive.  For a little history, the tree below is where Michelle, co-founder of Orchard: Africa,  began feeding the children of Top Village.  There was no building only the tree and hungry children.

Below is the nutrition rich food given to the children

The cooking area -  which also serves as a preschool area

Uncle D making sure the children complete the task of cleaning the yard of the community center and the church before they are allowed to have a bracelet.

Rewarding
We absolutely loved helping to feed the children in Top Village.

Playful & Fun
Vacation Bible School at Dihatswane Village gave us a chance to get to know the children personally.  They are sharp and respectful.  A favorite story tonight was of the very respectful boy who used to be a local trouble maker.  Thanks to Pastor Mpho he loves coming to VBS and learning.

The children already knew the verse...do you?  Psalm 139:14

Beautiful

As a recap, our word to describe the our day and how our spirits were touched -

"Satisfying, Joyous, Great, Surprising, Beautiful, Wonderful, Marvelous, Full, Rewarding, Playful and Fun!"

Love is the same in all languages.  We learn this more and more with each passing hour.  We also learned Lerato means LOVE.... Our driver is Lerato, and there are at least three children in VBS who are named Lerato.  Coincidence or God incidence?

Good Night!
